And the winner is…… Marieke Pierik!

Dr. Marieke Pierik from the Maastricht University Medical Centre (MUMC+) is the winner of the € 500,000 ZonMw grant for the best clinical trial proposal entitled ‘Control Crohn Safe with episodic adalimumab as first line treatment trial’ also known as the CoCros studie.

Dr. Pierik developed the clinical trial protocol together with a mentor during the blended course Clinical Development of Paul Janssen Futurelab. With her proposal she won the Best Clinical Trial Protocol Challenge and the Paul Janssen Futurelab Nomination Letter in 2017. This nomination has now been honoured by ZonMw with a grant of € 500,000.

Dr. Marieke Pierik (MUMC+) - Winner of the Best Clinical Trial Protocol Challenge 2017 and the ZonMw grant of €500,000 

This year, participants from the blended course Clinical Development can again compete in the Best Clinical Trial Protocol Challenge and the €500,000 ZonMw grant. Participants must successfully complete the online and on-campus courses to take part in the extended course where they will write their clinical protocol with the support of a mentor. The next online course will start on April 9, 2018. The on-campus and extended courses will take place in June, 2018 in Leiden.
