UPC

The Unitary Patent Court has been set up via enhanced co-operation between the member states of the European Union and avoids the need of litigating a patent in each and every member state.

The goal of the UPC is to gradually take over the role of the national patent courts and to avoid multiple proceedings between the same parties involving the same patent about the same alleged infringement in several European member states. The UPC will issue one decision about infringement and validity of all national designations of a European patent at the same time.

The UPC has also the power to enforce and to invalidate Unitary Patents
