Classmates

Who are your classmates and where are they from? Add a picture to your profile and it will appear here. In the course you will have a chance to introduce yourself and to chat with your fellow participants.

This 4-days on-campus course continues where the online course ended. During an intensive program, you will dive head first into a myriad of advanced teaching cases based on real-world R&D projects. Working in small teams with fellow participants, you will work on various assignments that are based on these R&D projects on novel medical interventions. This on-campus Futurelab course takes place in the beautiful Castle Oud Poelgeest in Oegstgeest near the city of Leiden, which is only a 20-minute train ride from Amsterdam/Schiphol Airport. From the Leiden train station it is 10 minutes by taxi or bike to the Castle.

Preparatory assignment prior to the start of the on-campus course

Prior to the start of the on-campus course you will need to study the learning materials supplied to you on this online platform and make the seven preparatory assignments that you need to upload on this site before due date Thursday May 30th 13:00 CET. Depending on your background and expertise this should take approximately 20-30 hours. Note that the 4-days on-campus course itself is quite demanding. During the course there is hardly any time to thoroughly study the course material. Therefore, you are expected to be familiar with the materials and upload the preparatory assignments before due date.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing this on-campus course, you will be able to process large amounts of information obtained from both non-clinical and clinical studies, and you will be able to identify the key issues to be addressed during the development of various products. You will also have a broad understanding of the challenges and dynamics associated with the development of a novel medical intervention. Finally, you will have learned how to work closely within a small, multidisciplinary group setting.
